TOKYO, JAPAN - July 2, 2025 - DeNA AI Link Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of DeNA Co., Ltd., has entered into a strategic partnership with Cognition AI, Inc., a company that develops innovative AI products. DeNA AI Link will be responsible for supporting the Japan launch of "Devin," an AI software engineer developed by Cognition AI, aiming for AI to collaborate as a team member.
As the shortage of engineers continues to be a challenge in Japan, there is a growing demand to leverage AI technology to improve the productivity of individuals and teams. Amidst this, significant expectations are placed on AI software engineers capable of autonomously developing as part of a team. DeNA began using "Devin" internally in February 2025 and observed substantial productivity improvements. This led to the current strategic partnership, aiming for further acceleration of its adoption and broader utilization beyond internal use.
By implementing "Devin," each engineer can gain an autonomous development team, increasing daily output. Development periods will be dramatically streamlined and shortened, enabling the development of more features with the same resources. This will dramatically scale up a company's overall development capabilities. Furthermore, "Devin" can generate code that previously required an engineer, even when a non-engineer provides correct instructions, thus expanding the scope of monozukuri.
"Devin" is an innovative, autonomous AI software engineer that automates the entire software development process. Unlike traditional AI tools that primarily assist with coding, "Devin" can autonomously execute multiple integrated tasks, from code creation, requirements definition, design, coding, testing, and deployment, with high efficiency and accuracy. It can also perform tests after code changes and finalize them into a format ready for human review.
“Devin” can join communication tools like Slack, acting as a team member to autonomously perform tasks. By running multiple 'Devins' simultaneously, tasks can be distributed on a large scale and with flexibility, dramatically boosting the overall productivity of the development team.
