SAN FRANCISCO - December 5, 2013 - DeNA today released Lawless, a photorealistic arcade-style shooter mobile game set in 1990s Los Angeles. The free-to-play game features fast-paced gun battles, robust customization and a unique tap to shoot control scheme. Lawless is available exclusively on the App Store for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
"Lawless was designed for people that like accessible, pick up and play mobile games with a grittier, more action-packed, photorealistic world to play in," said Ben Cousins, head of DeNA's European studio operations. "We've combined intense action, strategic gameplay and meaningful long-term progression to make a game unlike anything else available on mobile."
Players take on the role of a professional criminal, climbing the ranks of the seedy Los Angeles underworld. Each Lawless mission takes the player through levels modeled after real world locations as they aim, shoot and choose their path through dangerous missions including bank robberies, assassination assignments, and gang shootouts using simple touch and gesture controls.
Lawless was developed by EightPixelsSquare in cooperation with DeNA's European Studios, under the leadership of industry veteran and free-to-play visionary Ben Cousins. EightPixelsSquare was founded by key members of the UK studio Eurocom that helped develop the popular arcade shooter console game Dead Space: Extraction.
